Nook (“we”, “us”) helps people in Northern Ireland discover local activities, classes, clubs and days out. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and your choices. Questions? Email hello@nookapp.co.uk.

Information we collect

Account information — if you create an account, your email address.
Location — with your permission, your device location, so we can show activities near you and how far away they are. You can turn this off in your device settings at any time; the app still works without it.
Things you add — places you save, any family profiles you create (a child’s first name and age, if you choose to add them), and notes. This powers your saved lists and weekly planning.
An account identifier — a unique ID linked to your account.
Usage information — anonymous, device-level activity such as app opens, what’s searched for (including searches that return no results), and which venues are viewed or tapped. If you answer the optional welcome questions when you first open the app, we also record your age range and the types of activities you’re interested in — never your name, and never linked to your identity. This is used in aggregate to understand who Nook is for, improve the app, and decide what to add. The welcome questions are optional and you can skip them.
Crash & performance data — if the app crashes or hits an error, we collect diagnostic information (such as device model, operating system and what went wrong) so we can fix bugs. This isn’t used to identify you.

How we use your information

To run and personalise the app — showing nearby, relevant activities and keeping your saved lists and family profiles.
To improve Nook and decide which activities and areas to add next.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not track you across other apps or websites for advertising.

Who we share it with

We use trusted infrastructure providers to store and run Nook on our behalf — such as Supabase (secure database & sign-in) and Sentry (crash & error reporting). These providers process data only to provide their service to us. We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.

Businesses & service providers listed on Nook

Nook is a local discovery directory. To help people find things to do, we list local venues, classes, clubs and independent service providers (for example instructors, coaches and personal trainers) using information they have already made public about their business. We do this on the basis of our legitimate interest in running a useful local directory — and theirs in being found by local customers. If a listing is about you or your business and you'd like it corrected or removed, just claim it in the app or email hello@nookapp.co.uk and we'll action it promptly.

Children

Nook is intended for adults. An adult account holder may add a child’s first name and age to help plan activities. This is entered by the adult, used only within the app for that family, and is never used for advertising.

Your choices and rights

You can turn location off any time in your device settings.
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct or delete your data. To delete your account and associated data, email hello@nookapp.co.uk and we’ll action it.

Data retention & security

We keep your data only as long as needed to provide the app, and protect it with industry-standard measures.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time; we’ll post any changes here with a new date.
